Help Frost Family pay Medical Bills
Donation protected
Scott was attacked by a neighbors Pitbull on the day he purchased a home for his family in Penasco. The family consists of Scott, his wife Lana and daughter Brooke. They are originally from Dixon and moved away in 2007. they returned in 2018 to care for aged family members. Scott worked for Taos County for two years after they returned. They saved money while renting from a relative and were able to put a down payment on a home near their relatives in Penasco.
On the day he closed on the home, he spent the afternoon planting fruit trees in their new yard. The dog was tied up next door. As he was getting ready to leave that evening, Scott watched the neighbor let the dog off the chain to bring him inside for the night. The dog gave no evidence of aggression as he slipped away from its owner and came into Scotts yard. when it got close enough, and with no warning, the dog clamped onto Scotts right wrist and began to shake and tear. Scott was able to hold him by the collar with his left hand while fighting back and screaming for the owner. Eventually they got the dog off of Scott's wrist which was gushing blood. The Emergency room at Holy Cross determined that to save Scott's hand and potentially his life, he would need to be airlifted to Albuquerque. He was admitted and after two days released with surgery scheduled for the following week. before than, the wound became infected and he spent another two days in the hospital, followed by a surgical debridement of the wounds and nerve repair. he has been off work for three weeks now with no guarantee of how much use of the hand he will regain.
The dog owners are a young family with no insurance. they have cooperated with animal control and the dog was euthanized. there is very little chance of financial recovery from them, although they have offered to help in any way they can
At this time the frosts are facing several hundred thousand dollars in medical expenses. Scott has health insurance but coverage will be limited. Things like the helicopter ambulance are not likely covered. All their savings went into the down payment on the home. They are known as a family devoted to helping others and now find themselves in need. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much!
