Thank you for being here. I’m asking for help with getting our puppy, Friia, the veterinary care she needs. My husband and I adopted her from a shelter at 9 weeks and she will be turning a year old next month. To say we adore this dog is an understatement.
A few months ago, we began noticing that Friia was expelling vaginal discharge. Our primary vet treated this as best they could, but referred us to specialty care when things did not get better. We were finally able to get to the specialist after weeks of waiting and discovered that the situation is more serious than we could have planned for. Friia has recurrent vaginitis and urinary tract infections that could lead to fatal renal failure if left untreated. She will need vaginal reconstructive surgery, or if the infection is too far advanced, removal of her kidney. She will not survive if this is not treated.
The diagnostic treatment alone is $2500.00, and the final cost could be anywhere from $4000.00 to $6000.00 depending on the severity of her infection.
It breaks my heart to not be able to afford this care for my puppy. When we adopted her we knew the costs associated and thought we could be prepared for whatever she needed.
This year, I personally experienced unexpected medical emergencies that we are still struggling to pay off. This leaves us with no additional money to help Friia.
We don’t want to have to part with our pupper. Please consider giving what you can or sharing Friia’s story for others who might be able to help.
