Help Friendly Purchase an Organics Hauler!

Friendly Composting Inc. was founded in March 2020 by best friends and former roommates, Katie Forsyth and Claire McLoughlin. The pair identified a need for organic waste collection in Kamloops, BC. and, with the support of their team and community, have spent the past three years providing residential and commercial organic collections for over 1,500 residents and 30 businesses in Kamloops, and surrounding areas. Knowing that the City of Kamloops would be introducing their own organics program for residents in the future, that didn't stop Katie & Claire from taking action, growing the Friendly community, and successfully diverting over 1,000,000 lbs of food waste from our local landfills.

The City of Kamloops will be introducing their city-wide Curb-side Organics Program in the week of August 21st, 2023; residents can anticipate cart delivery to their neighbourhoods throughout July and early August.

As you can tell, we are at an interesting crossroads; ultimately losing almost an entire revenue stream while simultaneously needing to reinvest resources into scaling our hauling capabilities - ASAP.

With your help, we are trying to raise $100,000 to support our mission. Scaling our hauling capabilities will allow us to pursue higher volume contracts, secure community-wide contracts, strata complexes, restaurants, local events - and so much more!

Here is more information about our *Friendly Hauler* - an under commercial grade (UCG) vehicle with an organics hauler - including tipping and bin washing capabilities(!!!). Yay for no more back-breaking manual tipping!!

What you can expect as a current Friendly Composter:

Our final Friendly collection for residents within Kamloops city limits will be August 15-17, 2023. We will continue to service Sun Rivers and Tobiano residents, as well as our commercial accounts and local events.

*Please note: At this time, we will not be giving Friendly Composter's within Kamloops city limits the option to use our service when the City program starts. This has not been an easy decision but our program is extremely labour intensive, and it has been three BIG years operating on very tight margins. With losing over 75% of our subscription revenue, we need to prioritize our team's well-being as we navigate these changes, redirecting our energy to our sustainable programs; commercial waste collection + local events. Services that will ultimately result in a greater environmental impact as well - the name of the game is - simplify + sustain + scale!
