Update 5/13/2026: OK so update time! It's been awhile.
Minnesota plans fell through, wasn't a good time for any of us, and it was shelved permanently.

Since then, I got re-offered a spot rooming with some very close friends, practically family, once they move to a new place. And we've signed the lease! But, I'm going to be unable to actually move in myself until July of this year.

So plan now is to work through the rest of this month, putting in my notice for June 1st, and spend that month packing, shipping, and spending last few weeks with family and friends here before the move. But I am going to be paying rent for at least 2 months unemployed. And along with California having higher cost of living, feeling the squeeze a little harder with the budget. Not a huge emergency, I'm covered for the move and a few months of rent after everything is said and done, any further donations are a cushion if it takes longer to find a new job. Thank you so much to everyone who helped all throughout this campaign, I'm finally escaping Florida.

----------- Below is the original campaign story -----------

Hello! My name is Freyja. Since 2022 I've been trying to save up money to move out of Florida. I've lived in the same city for my entire life and seeing the rapidly decaying safety of being a trans woman here and getting healthcare for that, I had been making plans to move in with some longtime friends of mine.

I had more than a comfortable amount saved by the start of 2023 to cover rent and bills before I found work in the new place, even after having to quit my job due to a case of COVID knocking me out of commission for several months. But quite early last year I suddenly lost my father to a stroke, and had to pick up bills to help support my mother and younger siblings, and keep some friends of mine from facing imminent homelessness. Naturally my savings have been drained in the time it's taken me to find another job. The hours I have are sparse compared to my previous one, and I have more living expenses than before.

I don't know what the job market will look like for me because the exact area in Minnesota we're moving to is still vague, but based on rent and utility prices at the places we've been looking at, prices for shipping my things, travel expenses, I wanted to have around 6k-7k as a cushion in case it takes me significantly longer than I expect, as it did finding my current job, so the current goal of 3K will be matched and exceeded by my own savings as best as I can. Currently the plan is to move sometime within the next year, depending on how long it takes each of us to get our affairs in order.

I've had a few plans to get out of here and be in a safer place fall through over the past few years, and I really want this to work out. If you can help at all, even a tiny bit, its that much more off my shoulders and towards being in a home I can truly be myself in.
