Help Freya Heal: Support Her Recovery Journey
Donation protected
We are trying to raise money for little Freya, a 5-month-old puppy who fractured both her radius and ulna on December 20th.
A private lender graciously extended her Care Credit for Freya's leg but will need to be repaid much more than we can afford. The lender chooses to remain anonymous, and we are more than grateful that their Care Credit was extended for Freya's use temporarily. Without the immediate funding, Freya would have had to be put to sleep. So we are so happy and thankful!
Because of this generosity, Freya was seen by Blue Mountain Animal Clinic within 20 minutes of this accident. The excellent doctors there triaged and casted Freya for transport to a surgeon.
None of the suggested surgeons in the area could see Freya except Dr. Adams at Poulsbo Animal Clinic, who made an exception and stayed late so we could get all the way there.
We took her to Poulsbo Animal Clinic, and Dr. Adams examined her and scheduled her for surgery on the following Monday (after some of the swelling went down so her odds would be better). (60 miles each way)
She came through surgery beautifully (got a plate and 4 screws put into her tiny radius), and we went back the next day for follow-up care. Despite our insisting on a cast after surgery, even a walking cast, none was applied. He said it would only make things worse, and he had done this so many times with an 80% fail rate if casted and assured us it would be fine without any support.
We went back Friday for a scheduled visit for pain patch removal and discovered the plate had broken loose despite following the doctor's recommendations to the letter. She was x-rayed again (2 slides), and it was decided she would be sedated again and use traction to reset her little leg. This time I refused to leave without at least a splint and increased sedation for her pain.
The bill for Blue Mountain Clinic was $1,600, and Poulsbo Animal Clinic is up to $8,000 as of today. There will be additional costs for our little girl as she continues to heal. She will need so much therapy and follow-up care to return her to full mobility.
We are here pleading for ANY donations we can get to help pay for this horrible freak accident. Thank you for reading this and know you have our eternal gratitude for any help you can give. All money raised will go directly to the lender to repay her Care Credit card.
