On Friday, my sweet boy French Fry went through something no pet should ever experience. He was accidentally trapped inside an airtight container for an unknown amount of time and was found barely conscious, struggling to breathe. I rushed him to the emergency vet, where he was placed on fluids overnight and given pain medication to help stabilize him. The vets diagnosed him with pulmonary contusions (bruising on his lungs) from the lack of oxygen, and he has a long and difficult healing journey ahead.

The emergency visit alone cost over $1,000, and he still needs ongoing care and follow-up visits with his regular vet to ensure his lungs recover properly. I’ve had him since he was just 5 weeks old — he’s been my baby, my constant companion, and my source of comfort through everything. Seeing him in pain has been heartbreaking, but I’m doing everything I can to help him heal and get back to the happy, playful cat he’s always been.
