Freedom Needs Your Help!

Over the Holidays, Freedom started acting very strange. He stopped eating and drinking and was completely lethargic. After a few days of this behavior we knew we had to take him into the vet.  Blood tests revealed that  his liver enzymes were dangerously elevated and he needed to be kept at the hospital for a few nights. The vets didn't really know what was wrong with him. 

We tried multiple different medications, over the span of a few months, taking him in and out of the hospital to get consistent care and bloodwork. He continued to lose weight and eventually he got so skinny that they insisted on putting a feeding tube into his stomach. Feeding the little guy through the tube included three, 40 minute feeding sessions everyday. Both of us work 2 jobs and it made this really hard. 

While he was under anesthesia getting the tube put in, they found a tumor in his nasal passage. At first, they thought it was benign but a few weeks later we now know that it's cancer :( 

In January we tried a round of steroids that brought his liver enzymes back to a normal level, he began eating on his own and is now tube free. All of these tests, hospital visits and medications cost us over $9,000.00, which was paid for by credit cards that are now maxed out. We are thrilled that this part of the battle is over, but now we have to tackle the cancer, and we don't even know where to start digging ourselves out of this financial hole. 

Cancer radiation estimates are between $2,500 - $8,000. We want to give Freedom the best care possible and keep him alive and comfortable for as long as possible. We are asking people to donate so that we can pay off the credit card debt incurred from his liver failure and raise enough money to do a first round of radiation.

Anyone who knows Freedom, knows he's a lively, friendly, emotional lover of a cat - he has a lot of life left to live. Cancer is vicious but freedom is a beast. We greatly appreciate any donation or just sharing of his story. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
