Help get a freedom fighter back on the road! I Jasmine Smith, known in the community as a dedicated fighter to free the wrongfully convicted, fight against police misconduct, and build community organizing am dealing with car issues that will prevent me from making my living and participating in the movement. I survive off of rideshare driving, when I'm not organizing court support, speaking truth to power at City Hall, or taking care of my daughter and grandson. My presence in the movement has been essential to the survivors and family members I support, as we continue to fight bogus wrongful conviction and torture cases.
The cases that I help fight and bring awareness to are for actual innocent people, who have spent decades and more doing time for crimes they did not commit. Where the police, detectives, assistant states attorneys, and judges failed them with no accountability. They rather innocent people rot in prison while the real criminals roam our streets. I understand that Chicago being named the number 1 capital for wrongful convictions is a serious matter that not only concerns and affects the wrongly convicted, but also affects families, children, and most all is a huge waste of our tax paying dollars. It is dangerously unsafe for our communities, that the actual person/persons committing these crimes are walking away scot free.
The movement and the people of Chicago need me in this fight. And for that to happen, I NEED your support and for you to share this with everyone you know so that I can get back on the road. "Everyone's contributions to the movement are important, but fighters like Jasmine don't come around everyday" -Dod. So, please help donate and spread the word about this fundraiser so it reaches far and wide. Any amount helps, and none is too small to make a difference.
