Help Bring Omar Home: Legal Defense Fund

My name is Luis Rodriguez, and I’m helping to organize this fundraiser alongside Karina Salazar for our dear friend, Omar Salazar. Recently, Omar was detained by ICE, and we are raising funds to support the legal fight to bring him back home.

Omar is more than just an accomplished student and professional, he is a major part of the heart of our community in Dallas. A valedictorian graduate of Trinidad Garza Early College, a proud alumnus of Southern Methodist University, a known brother of Sigma Lambda Beta, and now a rising professional in the Artificial Intelligence sector, Omar’s personal success has never pulled him away from his roots.

From grassroots efforts in Dallas neighborhoods to collaborations with larger citywide networks, Omar has been there, showing up, organizing, mentoring, and building connections that lift others up. He has consistently used his platform and his skills to strengthen our community and uplift those around him. Omar has no criminal history, only a history of leadership, service, and love for his community. The bonds he has created with leaders and neighbors alike are a testament to his character, and we are hopeful that those same leaders will raise their voices for him now, more than ever, and that you will join us.

Omar has touched countless lives, inspired others through his story, and reminded us all what it looks like to lead with both courage and compassion.
