On February 6, 2026, my husband Marcel was detained by ICE without clear explanation of when or where he would be deported. He was first taken to Minneapolis and has since been transferred to El Paso, Texas. Like thousands of others in ICE custody, he is being treated inhumanely, and as one person, there is very little I can do to change that system.
Marcel is fully eligible for ICE bond. He has a valid, pending green card application, no criminal record, and has not been unlawfully present. Despite this, he remains detained, and time is critical. Securing his release requires an experienced immigration legal team, significant retainer fees, and the bond amount set by ICE.
Our goal is to do everything the right and legal way, including pursuing the possibility of self-deportation if necessary, in hopes of avoiding a devastating 3–10 year reentry ban and giving us the chance to continue this process correctly and lawfully.
Marcel is a good person. He is a husband, a loved one, and someone who does not deserve what he is going through. I believe that deeply in my heart.
So far, we have raised $10,000, and we are incredibly grateful. We need at least $20,000 to cover legal fees and bond costs. Anything — sharing, donating, or sending support — truly helps more than I can express.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for standing with us during the hardest moment of our lives.
