10/24/2025 UPDATE:
At this point, the update we’ve received is that Gonzalo opted to self-deport due to the conditions he was being held in. It’s still unclear why he was detained in the first place, but he chose not to wait for an indefinite court date. Gonzalo came to the U.S. from Guatemala when he was five years old, and since then, he has been working hard and contributing to society just like you and me. Regardless of citizenship status, our government should not be snatching people off the streets at their jobs — unmarked, unwarranted, and disrupting the communities we all work so hard to maintain. My building is actively working on rehiring him and hoping to bring him back as soon as possible. The GoFundMe remains linked directly to him. Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared.
Community will prevail. ️
Help Bring Gonzalo Catalan Home
On October 17th, 2025, Gonzalo Catalan was illegally detained by ICE agents outside his workplace in Portland, Oregon. ICE had no warrant, no justification, and no right to take him.
As of now, we have no update on his whereabouts or condition.
We are in the process of securing an immigration lawyer to fight for Gonzalo’s immediate release and hold ICE accountable for this wrongful detention. In the meantime, Gonzalo’s family is struggling - he will be missing work indefinitely, and they depend on his income to meet their daily needs.
This GoFundMe has been created to help cover:
• Legal fees and advocacy support
• Lost income while Gonzalo is detained
• Essential living expenses for his family
Every donation, no matter the amount, helps bring us one step closer to reuniting Gonzalo with his loved ones and ensuring justice is served.
Please share this post widely and stand with us against this abuse of power. We are praying for his safe and swift return home.
