This is written on behalf of a dear friend, Gio Altamirano, who was kidnapped by ICE while on his way to work at the Chart House in Cardiff on Sunday morning. While driving to work, Gio noticed three unmarked cars following him from his home in Vista to Cardiff. He knew immediately what was happening and was detained by ICE. He is currently at the "detention center" in Otay Mesa. Gio Altamirano has been employed at Chart House for over fourteen years and is an important member of that community in North County San Diego. Gio has been a resident of North County San Diego since he was a young boy. He moved here with his family at the age of 8, attending 2nd grade at Capri Elementary in Leucadia.

Gio is the father of a young son, an 11-year-old named Liam. Liam is Gio's pride and joy. He loves his son with his entire heart, and being taken away from him is beyond devastating for Liam and Gio. Gio's dog, Zeus, was also left behind when Gio was taken, but is now safe in a foster home.

Gio is the son, brother, uncle, and friend his family members call upon whenever they need help. He is a loving father and hard worker. He has now been in detention for 5 days. He is currently being denied funds that were sent to him for commissary items and phone calls, but was able to call out quickly and confirm his location thanks to the kindness of a fellow "detainee". On behalf of the family, I am collecting funds that will go directly towards hiring an immigration lawyer and supporting Gio's commissary fund (which pays for phone calls and food items). Should there be any remaining funds, they will be distributed to Gio to help him rebuild his life.

Thank you so much for your care and humanity.
