I am writing to you today as a fellow homeowner who cares deeply about the community we share. My name is Rolando Miret from Unit N-9. I have been an owner here for the past year, and I am reaching out because someone who has been a constant, friendly, and hardworking presence in our neighborhood (Executive Bay, Islamorada) since 2021 is currently facing a sudden and devastating crisis.

This past Friday, my second cousin, Gilberto Rodriguez, was detained by ICE. Despite having all of his paperwork in order, he is currently being held — leaving his family in an incredibly difficult and uncertain position. Many of you have likely seen Gilberto around over the last several years and know his character: he is an exceptionally diligent person and a devoted family man who has truly become a familiar part of our daily lives here.

My only intention is to help Gilberto and his family navigate this situation and bring him home. I am currently heading the effort to secure a specialized attorney to file a petition for his release. The legal retainer is $10,000, though we are aware this is just the initial cost and legal fees could increase as the case progresses.
