Darwin Hernandez came to the United States seeking safety and the opportunity to work hard for a better future. He is currently in the middle of a pending asylum case and has been granted a legal work permit, allowing him to work lawfully in the U.S. while his case moves through the courts.
Despite having authorization to work, Darwin was taken into ICE custody while working a construction job in Malibu. He was one of five men detained that day.
Since then, his employer has shown extraordinary generosity by continuing to support the families of the five men who were taken from the job site. But as the weeks go on, Darwin’s family is facing mounting legal expenses as they fight to secure his release and defend his right to remain in the United States while his asylum case is pending.
Even at the discounted rates we've received, attorney retainers, court filings, bond motions, and ongoing representation quickly add up to thousands of dollars. Every contribution—no matter the size—will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page to help us reach others who may be willing to support Darwin and his family during this incredibly difficult time.
Together, we can help ensure Darwin has the legal representation he needs and give his family hope during an uncertain and painful chapter.
Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and support.
Note: Darwin's wife, Dulce, is my housekeeper. I have her permission to withdraw donated funds on her behalf and send her the money outside of GoFundMe for Darwin's legal expenses.
