Help Catherine Come Home

Ten years ago, Catherine came to the United States as an international student with dreams in her eyes and hope for a better future.

She came here to study, build a life, and pursue opportunities through education. Like so many international students, she believed that hard work, education, and following the rules could help her build a meaningful future.

Today, that dream has been turned upside down. She hasn’t been granted her right of due process. She was brought into custody on false charges, but has not received a trial or hearing in six months.

Catherine has now spent six months in ICE detention. She is separated from the life she built, from her education, and from the people she loves. What makes this even harder is that she has very little support here in the United States. She is not surrounded by a large family or a network of people who can easily step in and help her.

Our family is doing everything we can to support her and pursue every legal option available to her. But immigration cases are complicated and extremely expensive, and the costs of attorneys, legal filings, transportation, communication, and basic support continue to grow. At minimum, we were quoted $3,000 for the legal fees, not including other expenses.

Catherine is more than an immigration case. She is a daughter, a sister, a friend, a student, and a person who came to this country with dreams of creating a future through education.

Six months in detention is an enormous amount of time to spend away from your life and the people you love. Every day that passes is another day Catherine spends every day in inhumane conditions, waiting and hoping that she can return to her family and continue her life.

We are asking for your help.

Funds raised will help us cover Catherine's legal expenses and the costs associated with fighting her case, communicating with her while she remains detained, and supporting her as we work toward bringing her home.
