Help Frederick Cooper Focus on Healing

Story

Hello everyone! I wanted to share a story of a courageous man named Frederick Cooper. Frederick joined our work team a couple of years back. He was quiet, timid, and shy. What I didn’t know was that the whole time he came to work, he was receiving dialysis 3 times a week for several hours. I saw that he looked tired and weak some days. I then asked him if he was alright. He then proceeded to tell me about his trips to the hospital to receive dialysis. I was concerned about him because he’s an older man and I was sure he had other underlying health issues beyond that. I suggested to him to apply for FMLA. It was to ensure his position at work. Then he tells me the great news of being put on the list for a new kidney. I shared the news with our coworkers in our morning meeting and we all prayed for him to receive this kidney. I made it my mission to be helpful to him and allow him to be vulnerable and eventually earn his trust. This man came to work every day without complaining about his condition. It amazes me that he came in with a great smile and with such a warm aura. I’m grateful that I took the time to get to know him and learn more about his life. I can honestly say he makes me and everyone laugh every day. Easter Sunday, he texted me that he is going in for his transplant. I was so excited for him and scared at the same time. When he was well enough, he contacted me to tell me the surgery was a success. GOD is good. And I couldn’t think of anyone better than Frederick to receive this wonderful gift. Here is where we as a community come in. Being a breast cancer survivor, I understand the hardships that go along with having a successful recovery. So, I wanted to create a small fund for Frederick. I want him to not worry about bills; instead, I want him to work on his health and recovery. In conclusion, I realize that we are all feeling the wrath of our economy. But if you can find it in your heart to donate whatever amount is reasonable, I know he and his family would appreciate the kindness and support. If you stayed till the end, thank you for taking the time to read his story. SPREAD KINDNESS
