Hello friends, family, coworkers, and acquaintances. My name is Freddy Herrington, and I'm battling prostate and lung cancer. In Oct 2021, I received a call from my urologist informing me that a prostate biopsy confirmed that I had prostate cancer. As we monitored it quarterly to see if it was growing or spreading, we did another biopsy in February 2023 that confirmed the cancer had spread within the prostate, but not to other parts of my body. As we prepared for prostate treatment, I became ill in March 2023, and was admitted to the emergency room for tests. I was diagnosed with pneumonia and the doctors also discovered a tumor on my right lung that required further medical testing.

As we went through numerous tests, scans and two bronchoscopy surgeries on the right lung, it was obvious that the prostate cancer treatment plan would have to be put on hold. I take quarterly shots to keep the prostate cancer in check while we deal with my right lung issues. The second lung biopsy results on May 18, 2023, did show that the tumor was cancerous, and I was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer, which is a form of squamous cell carcinoma. I'm currently going through 7-weeks of chemo (every Monday) and radiation (daily) treatment for my right lung cancer. The plan is to start a year-long immunotherapy treatment in late Sep 2023. Hopefully, if all is going well, we can also regroup and start getting radiation treatment on my prostate.

The goal of this Go Fund Me is to raise money to help pay the existing and future medical expenses for my lung and prostate cancer treatment as well as the travel expense to and from treatment. My round trip is 140 miles every day. Although I have insurance coverage, there are many tests, scans, surgeries, medical procedures, and treatments that insurance does not cover.
