Help Freddie Gain His Independence
Donation protected
Meet Freddie – a bright, brave, and determined 3-year-old boy with a heart full of courage.
Born prematurely, Freddie was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy in September 2023. This condition affects his muscle control and movement, especially in his legs, meaning that everyday tasks many take for granted are a real challenge for him. Freddie cannot currently stand unaided without support and although he is starting to walk short distances independently, he has an equinus gait ( up high on his toes ) and relies on the use of a walker and wheelchair to get around.
Freddie faces his condition with incredible strength and determination but he needs ongoing regular physiotherapy and support to thrive. In July this year, Freddie is scheduled to undergo a life-changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR).
SDR surgery has the potential to significantly reduce the tightness in his legs, bring his feet flat and give him the best possible chance at gaining greater independence.
However, the journey doesn’t end with surgery. Freddie will need intensive physiotherapy both before and after the operation to maximise its success and the NHS can only provide so much for a limited period of time.
We hope to increase Freddies privately funded physiotherapy sessions to two a week from the current one a week and are raising funds to help cover the costs of this vital part of his rehabilitation and to also create a dedicated physiotherapy space at home — a place where Freddie can work hard every day toward his goals but also maintain some separation between work and home.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward giving Freddie the best possible start in life. It’s a long road, but with your support, Freddie and us, his family can take this important step forward — toward independence, strength, and a brighter future.
Thank you for being part of Freddie’s journey.
