Fred, our sweet and silly eight-year-old Boston terrier, is more than just a pet.. he is the heart of our family and loved by so many of our friends. He has always been the glue that holds us together, bringing joy, laughter, and endless cuddles.

After spending the summer at his “vacation home” in Halliburton with a family friend while we moved, Fred finally came home to the boys and me just two weeks ago. We were so happy to have our family complete again.

Yesterday, while in a familiar and safe place, Fred was unexpectedly and brutally attacked by a much larger dog. The attack came out of nowhere, and Freddie never had a chance to defend himself. By nothing short of a miracle, he survived. Tragically, my children and I had to witness this horror unfold. I will always carry the guilt of wishing I had left him safe at home that day.

Fred is now hospitalized at the emergency vet, where he is being kept sedated to manage his pain. His medical bills have already surpassed $3,600, and he is at serious risk of losing his eye. If he requires surgery to remove it, the total cost could reach another $3,000 or more, including the necessary hospitalizations.

Thanks to the generosity of a friend who let me place the initial bill on their credit card, Fred was able to get immediate care. But I cannot cover the mounting costs on my own, and time is critical.

Fred has always been such a happy soul who loves people, sunshine, and adventure. He deserves the chance to heal, to keep being the bright and loving companion he has always been.
