Hello Everyone, for those of you who know me (Sarah) or my husband Fred, you know that starting this page is a very different thing for me to do. Although my husband would give the shirt off his back to help a friend or family member, he very seldom asks for help. Taking care of me and our children is his number one priority always. For those of you who have been following on Facebook, you know what all Fred has been through this past month, and for those who don't, let me tell you it's been rough.
On Sunday June 29th Fred was admitted to Upper Chesapeake Hospital. He had been sick all weekend prior with flu like symptoms. No pain, just really sick. When we brought him in he was severely dehydrated and his kidneys weren't functioning properly. He was confused and disoriented didn't know his own name or what year it was at a point. He had a massive infection in his foot, which didn't show any symptoms prior. The infection went into his blood stream. It also spread to his brain causing multiple mini strokes. He was transferred to University of Maryland Hospital on July 8th. Throughout this month he has had multiple surgeries on his foot, the last one resulting in a partial amputation. The infection spread to his heart, causing an infection on his heart valve. He has since had open heart surgery to replace it. Thankfully he is finally on the mend. With that being said, financially we are not doing well. Fred has been unable to work and I've been at his bedside. He has applied for short-term disability, but was denied at first. We are working on an appeal, but that all takes time. Meanwhile all the monthly bills are piling up. At this point I want my husband to focus on getting better and not our financial state, as he has been. All he keeps saying is "I need to get back to work." It's embarrassing to ask, but at this point I am desperate and need a little help from my friends and family. No amount is to small and will help tremendously. If you're not in a position to help then God bless you. I hope this finds everyone well and thank you for taking the time to read this in it's entirely. The kind words of support and prayers thus far have been amazing. You are all very much appreciated. Thank you.
