Hi everyone, my name is Paul Paterson, and I'm fundraising for my cat Fred — short for Freddie Purrcury (yes, named after Freddie Mercury!). Fred is a sweet, long-haired black with white cat who was born in Montreal on August 1st, 2017, and we adopted her on November 21st, 2018. She’s been the heart of our home ever since.

Fred is the “alpha” cat of our household, but also the gentlest. She greets everyone at the door, even strangers, with her happy little trills and chirps. She loves being brushed so much that the moment she hears the brush come out — even if it’s for another cat — she runs over to take her turn and chew on the bristles. She sleeps with me most nights and curls up between my legs when I’m in my recliner. She truly is the best cat I’ve ever had.

A couple of months ago, Fred had a checkup, and the vet recommended dental surgery, including tooth extraction, cleaning, and anesthesia. The estimate they provided was:

Low end: $1,038.14

High end: $1,775.46

Unfortunately, I haven’t been working for the past few years and I’m currently applying for government disability, so money is extremely tight. This surgery is important to improve her comfort and prevent things from getting worse, but right now I simply cannot afford it on my own.

If the fundraiser exceeds the needed amount, all extra funds will go directly toward Fred’s future care or the care of one of my other cats, depending on who needs medical attention next. Every bit truly helps.
