I'm Franny, a rescue pitbull who lived the first part of my life in Florida, and now lives in Alberta with my parents and three annoying cat siblings.
Like many rescues, I had a tough start to life. I'd given birth to numerous litters of puppies and was in and out of kill shelters before a guardian angel arranged for me to be transported to Alberta through BARCS Rescue. My parents met me the same night I crossed the border to take me home. When I met them, I couldn't even look them in the eye. After they were able to get close to me, they realized I had broken teeth and a small lump on my leg that turned out to be cancer. With the help of BARCS, my vet got me all better!
Life since then has been awesome. My parents are still the only people I trust, but they spoil me. I get to eat things like carrots, blueberries, and peanut butter, go for car rides and walks around town, and spend most of my time spread out on the human furniture.
I went to the vet the other day for a dental, and my parents mentioned how I'd recently pulled muscles in my legs when I had my daily zoomies. My vet checked it out to be safe and discovered a big problem. I have cruciate ruptures in both knees. It's painful already, but unless both of my knees receive surgery, the pain will get worse and worse until I can't walk.
My parents give me and my siblings lots of love, and they spend way more than they can afford to get us the care we need. This one is a whopper. It's going to cost my parents upwards of $7,200 CAD. Could you help them out this time so I can keep being the bees knees? All I want to do is catch up on lost time and live my best life!
