Help Frannie Beat Pneumonia
My name is Tiffany and this is my shadow, Frannie.
We rescued my sweet Frannie girl nearly 11 years ago, but really she rescued me. Frannie is a Terrier Mix and had been abused, with some effects lingering still today from being shot with bb guns. Everyone was looking at the baby pups and kittens, and Frannie was patiently waiting for us, almost knowing I was looking just for her. She has been the best girl and such a fighter through multiple dental surgeries to fix broken teeth (from chewing on metal before we found her) and several more to remove masses on her liver, under her eyelid, and external masses that had exasperated. Thankfully in her fighting spirit, she always bounces back and continues to live her best life and helps me live mine.
We have been so fortunate to be able to cover the cost of the multiple surgeries and one other hospitalization over the years, but unfortunately after last year, Frannie needs extra help with hospitalization where she has been for almost a week battling pneumonia.
Hopefully she will be home with us in the next few days, but here’s where we are currently. When we took her in to the ER, we all thought she’d be home by the end of the night after getting her rehydrated and on some meds to help her recover from a GI or IBS issue. They ended up deciding they wanted to monitor her overnight. At 2:30am I received a call that her oxygen had dropped, they performed x-rays, and they set her up in an oxygen room. They diagnosed Frannie with aspiration pneumonia and would need to keep her for a while. Two of her liver enzymes were 4 times higher than what is normal. Her kidney numbers were elevated. She was on IV fluids and meds in the oxygen room while they watched over her the next two days. Out of concern for blood clots with her platelets 2.5 times normal, they added two additional meds and tests. After an emotional weekend, we are over the moon happy that she has been improving every day with baby steps in the right direction. As I write this, I’m waiting on the next update from her primary criticalist to see how everything has been going today.
I’ll add all the updates below, but Frannie girl is still in the hospital. She has been successfully weened off the oxygen, gets daily blood tests and quite a few meds. She has x-rays every two days to check on her lungs. Needless to say, the hospital bills are adding up beyond what we had anticipated. We still have extra hospital days and weekly checkups that will include a blood panel, x-rays, and additional diagnostics each visit over the next month or so. I will add a photo of the hospital estimate so far for everything they’ve done for Frannie. We know we aren’t of the woods and there’s more to come, but we just take it a day at a time to make her recovery smooth.
It’s never easy to ask for money, but this is where we are. Frannie needs your help. Any money that exceeds her needs, we will donate directly to another bill for a pet parent that is struggling to help their little one. We will always continue to pay it forward.
Thank you so much for your generosity, no matter the amount. It means more than you know to have received so much love and kindness for us and Frannie, not only this last week but ever since she came in to our family. If you haven’t been lucky enough to meet her yet, I can promise you she can feel the love and deserves all of it and more.
