No Paws, No Problem! Help Frankie Keep Moving Forward
Frankie is a 6 month old golden retriever who was born without back paws, but that hasn’t slowed him down one bit. He has been poked and prodded, suffered through multiple scary nub infections and a million different wound care strategies. He has outgrown almost all of the shoes we have found for him and desperately needs something with more support. Despite all of that, he is full of joy, sass, and love. He is training to become both a service and therapy dog!
He has the sweetest most incredible temperament and fills our lives with endless joy daily! Frankie wasn’t always part of the plan — with three dogs already at home, we thought our pack was complete. But when we met this little golden boy, we instantly fell in love and knew we had to be the ones to give him the extra care, support, and love he deserves
His goal is to inspire others who face challenges of their own. His motto? “No paws, no problem!”
As Frankie grows, he needs a little extra help to stay strong and healthy. We’re raising funds to cover:
- Custom prosthetics so he can walk and play comfortably
- Specialist visits and wound care to keep his nubs safe and pain-free
- Travel costs to meet with expert veterinary and prosthetic teams who can give Frankie the best chance at mobility
- Post prosthetics care will also involve an orthopedic care team to ensure his bones and muscles are forming and performing as they should to keep him from early onset arthritis and other possible skeletal challenges
His care thus far has been an up and down journey. We have tried many different wound care treatments to help heal his nubs enough so that we can get him some custom prosthetics. The most recent was called Phovia. It is a light therapy treatment that he had done once a week for 10 weeks. It helped a lot. Next up prosthetics so we can take some of the pressure off of his nubs and facilitate healing. We also have consults set up with some university veterinary programs and hope for others to collaborate with as we do everything we can to inspire ideas that will help Frankie thrive. Any 3d printing wizards out there who would like to take his nubs on as a project would be welcome too! It would be great to get him some day to day prosthetics but he needs sleeping shoes ( so he can’t chew his nubs) and rain boots too!
