Help Frankie Heal and Return to Surfing
Donation protected
My name is Lauren. I'm here reaching out for our dear photographer Frankie that has supported us local surfers throughout the community.
Frankie has been going through a lot the past few years. In 2020, she found out she had a grapefruit sized tumor on her uterus and ended up having a hysterectomy. She got back to work and life, but in 2023 she was diagnosed with breast cancer which lead to a double mastectomy. After working surf camp all summer in 2023, she was having extreme pain in her femur. They found growths/tumors in her femur and she ended up needing a full hip replacement.
She really needed to work(started chemo at beginning of season and got too sick, she she stopped treatment) the upcoming year camps for 2024 to pay for past medical bills and save for upcoming bone surgery allowing some time off to heal. She had surgery in August and is currently learning to walk again and just get her normal daily life, which we all know is mostly the beach surfing and shooting the action.
Everyone who know Frankie, knows how huge her heart is and how she would literally give you the shirt off her back for anyone. She's touched so many lives in the surfing community whether it was through her photography, surfing, or just being her friend.
As you can imagine, the medical bills are very burdensome and her healing journey is going much slower than predicted. It's time to give back to her. The money you will be donating will go towards her medical bills from the past few years and the physical therapy required for her hip. She's eager to get back to work, but the healing stage is taking a bit longer than expected.
If you wish to help out through a different outlet, donations will be accepted at the Ron Jon Surf School between 9 and 2 daily
