Help Frank Heal After a Vicious Attack

UPDATE WEDNESDAY:
One week ago today I got the call. I was at work in the city and I have never felt so helpless in my life. I couldn’t get out fast enough to get to Frank. The panic, the fear, knowing he was hurt & scared — it’s something I will never forget and is what makes me turn into a puddle immediately. I’m sure most non-dog people think I’m crazy but Frank is our child, just with 4 legs and a tail.

Today, we finally had his last drain removed

We’ve been flushing his drains with saline, applying antibiotic cream, monitoring every inch of him around the clock — and now we move into the next phase of healing. The biggest focus now is making sure the skin does not turn necrotic and that his stitches can come out safely next week.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Nagle and Dr. Kwon at Bond Vet. Their compassion, skill, patience, and constant communication have meant everything to us. They have treated Frank like their own and have guided us through every scary moment with care and honesty. We are beyond grateful.

Frank will be resting and receiving one-on-one care for the foreseeable future. Our world has slowed down to revolve entirely around his recovery — and that is exactly where we want to be.

To everyone who has checked in, donated, dropped off food, sent messages, prayed, and loved on our boy — thank you. Your support has carried us through the darkest days. We feel it every single day.

We’re hopeful the next few days are quiet ones and that there won’t be much to update — but if anything changes, we’ll keep you all in the loop.

Until his stitches come out next week, his world will be slow and gentle… full of snuggles, treats, rest, and so much love. And honestly, that’s the perfect medicine

UPDATE TUESDAY:
Frankie spent the day back at Oradell for observation following Saturday night. Dr. Carberry is truly a saint — she took her time thoroughly examining Frank and his drain and made sure every concern was addressed.

There was some cellulitis developing around the drain site, but she was able to clean and treat it right away. We’re so grateful it was caught and handled quickly.

Oradell and Bond Vet have been closely communicating about his care, and if all continues to go well, Frank will hopefully have his final drain removed tomorrow at Bond Vet

One step at a time. Our brave boy keeps fighting We appreciate you all more than you’ll ever know

UPDATE MONDAY:
We hope everyone is staying warm and safe out there ❄️
We attempted to brave the weather early this morning to get Frank to Oradell, but the roads just weren’t safe enough. As much as we wanted to go, his safety (and ours) comes first and right now nothing is urgent for him.

Thankfully, he had a really good night and is having a strong morning. His drop-off visit at Oradell is now scheduled for tomorrow — which means today is officially dedicated to extra snuggles and rest ❤️‍

As you can see from the neck brace photo, he’s draining really well — which is such a relief. We also turned our living room into “Frankie’s recovery suite.” Mike and I brought in the couch cushions, tons of pillows, and his dog bed to make a cozy little nest for him. We spend our entire day in there with him and we’re sleeping right next to him every night too. Frankie has been getting some real good snores in, turn your volume up

One step at a time. So proud of our brave boy and grateful for your love ❄️

UPDATE SUNDAY:
Frankie had a really tough night. Just a few hours after we brought him home from surgery, the back of his neck swelled to nearly three times its size. The inflammation was so intense that it looked like his stitches were being pulled tight against his skin. There was very little drainage, which made everything feel even more concerning.

We took him immediately to Oradell Animal Hospital and he was seen right away, thanks to our amazing family.

Frank’s drains finally started flowing properly, and he was cleared to come home with us

He slept peacefully all night — curled up right next to his mama — and today he’s in much better spirits. Tomorrow we’ll head back to Oradell for a follow-up check, but for now it’s a full day of snuggles with mommy and daddy ❄️❤️‍

Michael and I are experiencing every emotion in the book. Our baby should’ve never been in that situation, no one should ever be. We are mentally & emotionally wrapping our head around the long road to recovery for Frankie. We’re taking everything hour by hour. The immense support & love from EVERYONE has touched our hearts more ways than you could ever know. Thank you for loving Frank the way we do ❤️‍

I would also like to clarify some of the misinformation. Our dog walkers Jordy & Mike did not suffer sprained wrists and were checked out by ambulance on scene. Between my fiancée & Dogboken they are being taken care of for their insurmountable bravery

UPDATE SATURDAY:
Frankie is done with his 2nd surgery and is home resting He was able to have his previous 2 drains removed but another drain was added due to fluid built up on the top of his neck. He will have another surgery Wednesday to hopefully remove the last drain. After we just have to pray that the skin heals & does not turn necrotic.

Mike Nowatzky & I are just absolutely devastated and sick to our stomachs. Mike is angry & I’m just an anxious puddle. Your support & love has meant everything to us and is not only helping Frank heal, but helping Mike & I heal.

We can’t thank all of you enough. The owner will no doubt be held accountable, we promise you that. If you’re able to donate or share franks GoFundMe that would be so helpful. We have a long road ahead of us. Thank you again for all your love and prayers

UPDATE FRIDAY:
Jordy & Mike with Dogboken deserve all the love & praise in the world. The way they protected him & fought to get him out of that situation literally saved his life.

We had an appointment for tomorrow for frank to have surgery & get his drains out. On the back of his neck he has some deeper wounds, one starting oozing and didn’t look right so we took him to Bond Vet at 5pm.

The doctor felt inside the wound on the back of his neck and felt some pocketing requiring a drain to be placed. Hopefully tomorrow during surgery he gets his existing 2 drains removed. We have at minimum 2 more surgeries including the one tomorrow. Please send all your prayers Franks way. You have touched our hearts and we can’t thank you enough

——————————————————————————
Our sweet Bernedoodle, Frank, was violently attacked while on a routine walk near ShopRite with his dog walker. Three unleashed Cane Corsos ran up and mauled him without warning.

Frank suffered severe injuries to his neck and leg. He required emergency veterinary care, including surgery, two drains placed in his neck to manage deep puncture wounds, and countless stitches. The trauma to his neck was extensive, and his recovery will require ongoing monitoring, medications, follow-up visits, revision surgery and wound care.

Frank is not just a dog — he is family. He is our constant companion, our source of comfort, and the happiest, gentlest soul. Seeing him in pain has been devastating.

We are doing everything we can to give him the best possible care, but the emergency treatment and continued recovery costs are significant. We are also going to give money to our brave dog walker. If you are able to contribute, any amount will go directly toward Frank’s veterinary bills, healing process and Dogboken. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.

Thank you for helping us get our sweet boy back to full strength. ❤️
