Help Frank and Nayeli Grow Their Family

After 5 years of dating, Frank and Nayeli joyfully tied the knot on November 5th, 2022. Frank, born and raised on the southwest side of Chicago, is a dedicated professor at the College of DuPage. Nayeli, originally from Chicago and grew up in Oak Lawn, is a compassionate registered nurse in the psychiatric field.

In February 2023, they were elated to discover they were expecting their first baby. During a routine 7-week ultrasound, a cyst was found on Nayeli’s right ovary. By 9 weeks, the cyst had grown significantly, and an MRI revealed major surgery was needed to remove the cyst. Given her pregnancy, the surgery was delayed until the second trimester for the safety of the baby. At the time of surgery, the cyst grew to the size of a football. During surgery, it was determined the ovary and fallopian tube had to be removed. While Nayeli was recovering from surgery, their lives took an unexpected turn. They received the devastating news: the biopsies confirmed Nayeli had Stage 3 clear cell carcinoma, an aggressive ovarian cancer.

At that time, Frank and Nayeli were faced with a challenging decision, to continue the pregnancy or to terminate and proceed with an immediate hysterectomy to prevent the spread of cancer. With their love for each other, their longing to create their own family, and mostly their faith that God would guide them, the decision was made to continue with the pregnancy. Nayeli bravely began chemotherapy while pregnant, enduring five grueling rounds. Countless hospital stays and additional surgeries, which included gallbladder removal and severe bowel obstructions never hindered Nayeli’s strength and determination.

On October 9th, 2023, they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Mia Bella, into the world, weighing 4 lbs. 14 oz. Mia is their miracle and the love of their lives. However, due to the aggressive nature of the cancer, the doctors decided a total hysterectomy was necessary, eliminating any possibility for Nayeli to carry future children.

Frank and Nayeli have always dreamed of a large family and want nothing more than to give Mia Bella siblings. The only way to fulfill this dream is through surrogacy, a process that is incredibly costly.
