Help Francis Win His Asylum Case!

Help Francis Win His Asylum Case! (español abajo)

Francis was forced to leave El Salvador in 2016 as a result of the persecution he faced as a gay man. He was severely abused as a child and later as an adult because members of his community perceived him as gay. Shortly before Francis left the country, he witnessed gang members brutally murder his two young nephews. Just this past year, the same gang killed his brother. If Francis returns, he could be killed- if not by the gangs, then because of the rampant homophobia in El Salvador.

This past month, Francis shared his story in front of a hostile judge at his final asylum hearing in Tucson. The immigration judge denied Francis in an unjust decision, attacking his credibility simply because he had not revealed his sexual orientation to the first immigration official who interviewed him while he was detained. Francis needs your support to pay the attorneys' fees for his appeal, so that he can keep fighting for his right to stay in the U.S.

Here's a statement from Francis (english translation below):

Hello my name is Francis and I am a young gay salvadoran. I fled because of experiences of violence, the lack of respect toward my sexual orientation, humiliation, and because I was physically and psychologically abused in my country of origin. I was detained for 8 months and suffered the intolerance of ICE. I have been subjected to a system that detains and deports members of the LGBTQ community. I was released on a bond in 2018 so that I could fight my asylum case, but the judge denied my asylum, violating my rights as a member of the LGBTQ community. Now I am in the process of appealing so that I won't be deported. I need your help to be able to pay an attorney to do the appeal. Please help me to not be deported.
