**update she has had her surgery. everything went good now we're just focusing on recovery .
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support during one of the most difficult times my family has faced. My incredible mother is preparing to undergo a serious surgery to repair a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak — a rare and potentially dangerous condition. For years she has been suffering with the feeling of fullness in her head and ears which has caused severe headaches at night. She had a tube placed in her ear in April because she had fluid built up behind her ear. Little did she know after a CT scan she actually had small areas of bone thinning around the tegmen mastoideum and a possible dehiscence. She's being sent to Kansas City for surgery.
For those unfamiliar, a CSF leak occurs when the protective fluid surrounding the brain escapes through a tear or hole in the skull. This can lead to debilitating symptoms such as severe headaches, dizziness, nausea, and an increased risk of life-threatening infections like meningitis. It’s a painful and exhausting condition that has drastically affected her quality of life.
After months of pain, testing, and uncertainty, she was finally diagnosed and is now scheduled for surgery to repair the leak. While we are incredibly grateful that she’s receiving the care she needs, the medical and travel expenses, along with time off work and post-surgery recovery costs, are financially overwhelming.
We are humbly asking for help to cover:
Medical bills and surgical costs not covered by insurance
Travel and lodging expenses related to the surgery
Time off work for both her and a caregiver during recovery
Ongoing medications and follow-up care
My mom has always been the kind of person who puts others first — a loving, strong, and selfless woman who now needs help herself. If you’re able to donate, any amount — big or small — would mean the world to us. And if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign would be just as meaningful.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story and support her healing. From the bottom of our hearts, we are so grateful.
With love and gratitude,
Francie's family
