The week before Thanksgiving, Fran and Joel were in the San Diego, CA area for a wedding, when Fran had a medical emergency and had to be admitted to the hospital. Unfortunately, Fran required surgery to address her issue, and multiple complications have arisen due to Fran’s complex medical history that have necessitated a much longer stay in California than ever imagined. At this time, Fran has been hospitalized for over 4 weeks, with an unknown timeline for her return home to Richmond. As you may imagine, this is a very stressful time for Joel, as he navigates being away from family and friends to support Fran as best as we can. The cost to stay in San Diego is expensive, and while Joel is starting a part time job in the next few days to help defray some expenses, these costs far exceed what he is able to make working an hourly position. Additionally, Fran will require rehabilitation in San Diego before she will be able to return to Virginia. We do not yet have a date for her return, but it will likely be at least another 6-8 weeks.
We are asking for help to pay for Joel’s living expenses while he supports Fran’s recovery. Fran and Joel do not like asking for help, but they are in a situation where it is needed. Anything you can do to help, is so very much appreciated!
