Help Fr. Joseph build Trauma Centre

Our faith group "Faith Matters" had the privilege of having Fr. Joseph Fidelis as a member while he spent the summer of 2019 in our parish in Bailieborough Co.Cavan. During this time he expressed his concern about the dangerous circumstances which Christians have to endure just to practice their faith in Nigeria. Fr. Joseph was anxious to return to his homeland and help his people through this crisis.
Just to give you a brief outline of the horrific abuse that is happening in this country, here are a few startling statistics:
-Open Doors calculates that more than 7,000 Nigerian Christians have been killed because of their faith in the last 3 years.
-The Christian Association of Nigeria reports that 900 churches in northern Nigeria have been destroyed.
This fundraiser will benefit the victims of Christian persecution and Boko Haram attacks in the Maiduguri diocese in North East Nigeria. This is where Fr. Joseph works in a town with a population of 3 million of which 1.4 million are Internally Displaced Persons.
These people have fled from their hometowns and live in refugee camps. Fr. Joseph is the director of a trauma centre where he and his team are desperately in need of funds to provide shelter, food, counselling and medical care to a growing number of victims.
Fr. Joseph and his team are in the process of building a permanent trauma centre to facilitate the distribution of these vital services.
Many people who come to the centre are severely traumatised by what they have experienced and witnessed. Many of these are children who have nowhere else to go. Many are women with large families to provide for. All are hurt, damaged and broken.
The team work with limited resources to rebuild lives and mend broken hearts. This is true Christian love in action. Fr.Joseph and his team are beacons of hope during a time of immense darkness for the Christians of Nigeria. Help them shine a light on these atrocities which have gone largely unreported by mainstream media.
We have the luxury of being able to practice our faith without fear and discrimination. Please give what you can to help this wonderful Priest help his suffering people.
