Hi, my name is Caroline and my dad, Fr. John Koen, was just diagnosed with cancer. He has been dealing with health complications for over a month and the results came back today that he does have prostate cancer. Fr. John will have scans next week to see if the cancer has spread. Once they know, the doctors will then determine the best course of treatment. My dad will be doing chemo/radiation as prescribed once the diagnosis is reached. He has started a complementary treatment, that is proven to help in treatment and recovery. My parents need help with living expenses, as well as the medical treatment not covered by insurance, since my dad is unable to work for the foreseeable future. They have been dealing with health challenges for the past several years, including my brother's near-death health crisis (two!). My mum and brother are both working, as their health allows, but it is not enough without my dad's income.

My dad is an incredibly funny, generous and kind person who has helped so many people, both in his ministry as a priest and in his 35 years as a plumber. Fr. John has been an Orthodox priest for 25 years, and served as a priest in the Holy Order of MANS before that--he has dedicated his life to God, the Mother of God, and helping people here on Earth. My dad is a wonderful father, a loving husband, a caring and dedicated priest, a talented musician...and lives for a great (or terrible, depending on your opinion) pun!
