** I'm super close to my total! if 1600 of you give $0.50 Ill meet my goal! Thank you.**
After 32 years in ministry I would like to take a sabbatical. 9.5 years as the Rector of Holy Trinity in Charleston, SC has been a great gift to me. Together, with God's grace and provision, and a congregation of sturdy and faithful people; Holy Trinity has moved from a place of uncertainty and need of healing to a place full of joyful worship, ministry to others, and is filled with the sound of children every Sunday morning.
God is calling me to a brief sabbath. The time of rest will be designed by me to be filled with "extended times in the wilderness". My intention is to retreat to the wilderness and hike, camp, pray and read off and on for 2.5 months.
St. Phillips church in Charleston has been gracious enough to cycle their awesome staff of clergy through our worship schedule to keep the preaching and worship going on Sundays without Holy Trinity having to pay them. (We can't afford it and God has provided). Also, HT has no extra funds to assist in my sabbatical. That is why I've set up this page.
Since I'm vision impaired I don't drive on the interstate. I need to arrange for transportation to and from the trail heads. I also am in need of some lighter equipment. My hiking and camping equipment are a tad to heavy for this old man to carry over the miles I have planned. So if you can help that would be great! I will be vlogging much of my time. I hope to turn this experience in to a resource that will help others to retreat and experience sabbath which is so important for everyone on a walk of faith with our Savior Jesus.
I will be beginning this adventure, on Aug. 20, 2018. It will end on Oct. 30, 2018. For regular updates like my page "Palmetto Pastor" on Facebook and Instagram.
If you have questions you can contact me through the link provided on this site or if you know my number, call or text me.
Thank you and God bless you. Please remember to keep me and my family in your prayers, especially between mid-August and October.
