Help Foxy and Her Puppies (All 9!)
Donation protected

Hi Friends!
On Saturday, February 15th, I came home that night from work to find a face peeking out from behind a chair on my front porch. The weather that day was awful—thunder and lightning, pouring down rain. This little dog was shivering, cold, wet, and scared, hiding from the storm. Those of you who know me know that I care deeply for animals, especially dogs without homes or anyone to care for them. My heart broke immediately as this dog backed away into the corner of my porch, so scared. I crouched down and waited, speaking softly, holding out a bunch of treats. She edged a bit closer until I was able to drop the treats in front of her. Charley Bear treats won her over! I brought out my dogs' bed, blankets, water, and food to her, bundled her up, and secured her on the porch.
The next morning, I went out to feed her and noticed her adorably large corgi-esque ears, but also that her belly was very swollen looking. Her sweet nature was also obvious. She and my dogs got along well, so I knew that wouldn't be an issue until I could get her to my vet on Monday. Sadly, Dr. Daley at Asher Animal Clinic (who is GREAT by the way) didn't find a chip in her. No one on Pulaski County Lost Pets was looking for her or responding to my post. After hearing from neighbors that they had seen her running around our neighborhood for a week, I knew she had most likely been dumped. Unfortunately, this is an all too common occurrence here in Little Rock, Arkansas. After an ultrasound and X-ray, it was discovered that Foxy, as I've come to call her, was pregnant with 6 to 8 puppies due in 10 to 14 days!
That it would happen wasn't surprising, but the expediency of it sure was!
Asking for help isn't my strong suit, but I'm compelled to do it now. I can't abandon Foxy at a shelter and betray her trust she so readily gave me. I've decided that this little dog found my house and it is my responsibility to foster her and her puppies until they find forever homes. Luckily, I have good friends willing to lend a hand here. I could use your help covering the fostering cost of Foxy and her puppies. Food, supplies for the birthing, vet bills, etc. Any donation would help, not just funds: pee pads, old towels, if you live in the area considering adopting or fostering one of the puppies...
THE PUPPIES ARE HERE! 10 adorable fluff balls were born over 12 hours on February 28th. Sadly one passed away on March 2nd, so I have 9 now. 7 boys and 2 girls. It's looking like they may be G. Shepard, corgi, huskie mixes (with a smattering of other breeds) making them the perfect dogs!
Many thanks and gratitude,
Mimi
Hello Everyone!
I want to let you know how your donations are being put to work and how they will continue to help.
So far, your donations have supplied:
towels
paper towels
cleansers
LOTs and lots of pee pads
reusable/cleanable pee pads
puppy heating pad
puppy formula
plush bedding
puppy and adult dog food
rice and chicken (Foxy was pretty picky after birth about what she would eat)
plain yogurt to support milk production
a puppy coral for when they are on the move
baby pool for the birth process
collar and tag for Foxy
As this journey progresses, the puppies will need to be dewormed in week three (they are 11 days old now). I am in conversation with my veterinarian and in constant research mode as to vaccinations and when they need to happen. Also, Foxy will be spayed as soon as the puppies are weaned and she is cleared for the procedure. One thing I will need help with is getting mama and puppies adopted eventually. This might mean that you or someone you know could take a puppy for the weekend or foster a puppy once they are past 7 weeks old, as 9 will be too many for me! I will get the little adopt me vests for them and mama when they are ready for their debuts in the world. The puppies will need collars as well.
Thanks for your continuing support of Foxy and her puppies!
