I’m writing today with a plea from the heart—on behalf of Fox, a dog who has endured far too much, and Lisa, the woman who refused to give up on him.
Fox was one of several dogs abandoned at a property in Troy, Indiana, when their owner moved away and simply left them behind. Most were eventually rescued, but Fox and his sister Honey evaded capture for months. Lisa, an unwavering animal rescuer, caught Honey, but Fox remained elusive.
Still, Lisa showed up every single day—rain or shine—for eight months straight. That’s over 240 trips, just to feed him, gain his trust, and let him know he wasn’t alone. This week, her patience and love paid off. She finally caught Fox.
Now, Fox is no longer hiding in the shadows. He’s safe. He’s learning love. And he’s joined Lisa’s little sanctuary family. Her home is a sanctuary for those that humans have let down. But years of neglect and fending for himself have taken a toll on Fox and he, along with others need our help.
Fox has been diagnosed with heartworms, hookworms, mites, and other health issues. He also needs behavioral support and training, which we hope to provide through Liberty Canine.
Lisa has been rescuing animals like Fox—dogs and cats who have been dumped, mistreated, or forgotten—for years, often paying out of her own pocket. She is actively trying to create a small animal sanctuary, and the needs just keep growing.
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve personally rescued 243 dogs over the last 20 years. And like many others in our community, I’m exhausted—physically, emotionally, and financially.
We’re asking for your help, not just for Fox, but for the many animals like him who deserve a second chance.
Every dollar makes a difference. Whether you can give $5 or $50, your kindness will help cover the vet bills, medicine, training, and long-term care these animals so desperately need.
If your heart is pulled like mine is, please consider donating to this fund. It will be used directly for the medical treatment and care of the most vulnerable animals in Perry County—those without a voice, but not without hope.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
