My wife and I are foster parents with the state of Kentucky. We began our journey as foster parents in 2019 after I retired from the Army.
Our foster son has been with us in care for a year and a half. He is permanently wheelchair-bound due to a terminal illness. My wife and I are at the point where we are no longer able to pick him up and transfer him from his chair into a vehicle. While his insurance will help with rides to doctors appointments we are having difficulty getting around. The state is not allowed to purchase a vehicle to help transport him. We need to get a vehicle that will follow him through foster care, home to his biological family or adoptive home. Basically where he goes he will have a vehicle to transport him.
A handicap accessible vehicle will greatly benefit his life. Not with just the ability to roam but a vehicle will also open the door to obtaining a power wheelchair which is covered by his insurance but has been out of reach due to inability to transport it.
Anything helps. Thank you
