Dear Friends,
My name is Krystal, and I am 35 years old. While I tend to be a private person and typically keep the personal details of my life to myself, I feel it’s important to share a bit of my story with you. Early last year, I began to experience a significant decline in my health, which resulted in numerous visits to the emergency department with acute symptoms that were difficult to diagnose at the time. Since then, I’ve grown a team of Specialists ranging from everything affecting my head to my feet. My whole body is under attack. Out of respect for my privacy and as my journey continues to evolve, I prefer to keep certain aspects of my condition confidential, and I appreciate your understanding.
I live in the Near Southside of Fort Worth, TX, and have been in the art of hairdressing for 16 years. Unfortunately, the health challenges I now face are threatening my ability to do this work that has provided me with joy, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose. As a former salon owner, I’ve faced the complexities of healthcare for my employees in an industry where it’s not always the norm. Now, as an independent studio owner facing severe health issues, it has become essential for me to maintain comprehensive and top tier health insurance to manage these rising costs.
Due to the sudden and severe decline in my health, dramatic increase of premiums from under a hundred dollars to just under a thousand, and reset of my deductible in January I am urgently seeking assistance to cover these essential costs. These include the soaring premiums for my COBRA healthcare policy, scheduled procedures, infusions, weekly treatments, financially unobtainable life altering medications and appointments taking many hours away from my typical work week. One medication, for example, costs $33,000 per treatment cycle without insurance, and this is just one of many ongoing treatments I require. The need for affordable healthcare has never felt more urgent, and I know I am not alone in facing these challenges.
In addition to financial contributions, there are other meaningful ways you can help. Prayers, check-in messages, or simply sending positive and healing energy are invaluable to me during this time. Gift cards to local grocery stores are also greatly appreciated as I focus on my healing journey and adhere to dietary restrictions, as traditional meal trains are not ideal for my current needs.
With the support of my specialists and the encouragement of my community, I remain hopeful and optimistic that I will find peace and healing. If you have any questions or would like to discuss ways you can help, please feel free to reach out to me privately. Thank you for everyone who’s been on this journey with me and for those of you who are just joining, thank you for reading this sliver of my story. The rest is still unwritten
Warmly,
Krystal
