Help Forsby Attend Sewanee Music Festival

My name is Forsby Quick, and I am a rising senior trumpet player in the Western Carolina University School of Music. This summer I have been selected to participate in the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, an educational summer orchestra festival that gives students the chance to play in a high-level orchestra made up of diligent, motivated musicians. Each student, myself included, had to go through an audition process which included sending in audition tapes, writing personal essays, and letters of recommendation, so it is an honor to have been selected as a member of the festival's ensemble. During the month-long festival, members will be rehearsing high-level repertoire, working under various accomplished conductors, taking lessons with exceptional instrumental faculty, and putting on weekly performances. This would be an extremely valuable educational experience for me to learn this repertoire and style of playing, especially because I would be coming from a university without an orchestra.

Unfortunately, I was not offered any scholarships from the festival. Although I spend most of my free time outside of school at work, I can hardly put a dent in the tuition. The tuition for the festival is $3,750, and the month-long room and board (we would be housed on Sewanee: The University of the South's campus) is an additional $2,160. Additionally, I have less than a month to come up with the funding since the results of audition were released on May 7th, and the tuition is due by June 1st.

I am seeking sponsors to help fund my attendance and make this opportunity possible. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would be a tremendous help toward reaching my goal and pursuing this important step in my musical and professional development. I am committed to making the most of this experience and sharing what I learn with my peers and future students.
