Help former police officer, Ron Libby, after fire
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kim Squiers. About two weeks ago, my father and step-mother had a fire in their garage caused by faulty wiring in their garage door opener. The fire department declared it accidental. Although there was fire insurance, the claim was closed as my father couldn't afford the $2500 deductible.
Dad just turned 80 on July 22. He has difficulty with stability in his gait and uses a cane 100% of the time. Unfortunately, the fire destroyed his new motorized scooter; the scooter helped him navigate the ice safely, accomplish chores, and feel a sense of independence!! : >((
I am setting up this Go Fund Me to help Dad get a new scooter and to help them recoup their losses. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.
Dad and Mama Kathy have made a massive difference in many people's lives. Dad was a police officer for the Fairfield Police Department for many years, but I think he did more to help people when he was off duty!
Countless times, they have taken people into their home so they could get on their feet, including young mothers experiencing homelessness. They were and are always helping someone, even if it means they go without.
Every time I go to visit, Mama Kathy gives me things. You might think it's because I'm her stepdaughter, but that's just how she is, always giving their own stuff to people who need it! She even sends my mother trash bags that she can't find in the store (that's her husband's ex-wife!)
Besides the scooter, the fire also destroyed various other tools and machinery, woodworking items, tables, chairs, fishing poles, and an irreplaceable baseball card collection. The damages totaled about $8000.
We appreciate anything you could donate to help him replace the scooter and some of the other items.
Thank you for your consideration!
