Student Loan Forgiveness plans are aimed to help people who have Federal Student Loans. My family decided years ago to consolidate our Federal student loans for a better interest rate, which seemed like a wise choice at the time.

This was before student loan forgiveness programs came into politics.

However, because our student loans are now considered private loans, we are no longer eligible for any type of student loan forgiveness programs.

Over the last 12 years since graduating we have paid over 150,000 dollars towards a 100k student loan. We still owe 50,000. Our generation was brainwashed into believing that a college degree was the only way to be successful. However, as an adolescent, I don't remember having any education regarding how debt and interest rates work.

I understand that it's my responsibility to pay off my debt, but I have paid well over the amount I borrowed all those years ago and some. To say the student loan crisis hasn't been financially crippling on my family is an understatement. Our generation has been fooled, robbed, and brainwashed by our education system. Colleges have raised the cost of education beyond inflation. Our government was responsible for the policy changes that protected the banks and lenders while they profited off the ignorance of young adults.
