Hi, my name is Forest and I'm a 25 year old transmasc person who is trying to raise funds so I can afford top surgery.

I have been on the NHS waiting list for gender affirming care for 5 years, and am no closer to an appointment than when I was first referred. Based on the rate the Sandyford gender clinic is going through referrals, it would take me 107 years for a first appointment (I actually did the maths). I have been trying to have trust in the NHS that they would provide this essential care, but it has reached a point where I have to take matters into my own hands. This surgery would be truly life-changing to me, allowing me to finally feel comfortable in my body and a bit more like myself. For this reason, I will be seeking private healthcare to get top surgery.

The cost for surgery within the UK is around £8000, abroad it is around £6-7000, without factoring in travel and accommodation costs. As well as the surgery, I need to pay for the cost of a gender dysphoria diagnosis and consultation fees, which are £180-200 each. I am working to save up this money myself, but it seems like an unattainable goal right now. I don't expect to raise this money instantaneously, but it will surely be faster than 107 years. Even a small donation or a share would make a big difference, and give me hope that I can one day actually get top surgery instead of it being a distant dream.
