Help Foreign House Get A Film Studio!
On March 8th 2021, I introduced Foreign House to the world after so many restless nights, hundreds of zoom meetings, thousands of emails and almost giving up on the idea.
By now, you may have come to the realization that I am an ambitious young woman with so many dreams and goals to reach. As a black muslim woman, however, my opportunities are very limited, especially within the film industry. Instead of seeking the right opportunity or finding my dream job, I’ve been on a path to create that dream job. We all have dreams and aspirations in life, but we cannot simply wait around for a ticket to get us there. We have to go out and drive the train ourselves.
I founded Foreign House with one goal in mind: to inspire and make a change. Through Surviving an entire genocide and overcoming my battles with self confidence, I want to empower EVERYONE, no matter who they may be, to pursue their dreams and passions and know that they have what it takes to realize the future they've imagined.
In a world full of humans, we are lacking humanity. We are failing to accept people for who they are simply because they are different. In truth, the world would be a boring place if everyone looked the same. Our uniqueness and all the things that make us different not only make the world interesting, but make us who we are. Foreign House is a celebration of individuality. It’s here to push boundaries, promote diversity and inclusivity, while creating a bridge for different communities to come together. We have over twenty members, all coming from various backgrounds, who have something unique to offer. We have members from The Philippines, Canada, The UK, India, and more. Our members are artists, musicians, models, dancers, comedians, and actors. Simply put, we are the full package.
Our story is just beginning. We are currently planning on creating our very first film studio. This film studio will grant us the ability to produce short films and music videos, and expand our operations so that we can go above and beyond to serve our communities and make an impact on a larger scale. Our first film studio will open in the heart of Lansing, MI. Oftentimes, people assume that you have to move out to larger cities like LA to make it big, but we believe that sometimes you just need to look through a different lens. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. It’s not where you are that makes you great, but your passions and your ability to utilize the resources around you to make the best of it. This film studio will not only support our members, but will also create job opportunities for local individuals looking for their way out and continue to be a movement for change.
