Help for Zeke and Stuff in Seattle

Hello all. We briefly shared that Zeke is in the hospital and is having some medical issues. On Sunday night I brought him to the ER because if respiratory distress. From then until now his oxygen has kept going low enough to keep him admitted. What the drs think may be the issue is related to his cerebral palsy and muscles in his throat. What is a common cold to most folks is a life threatening event for Zeke. He is recovering from the cold, but he is still not getting enough oxygen. We are going to be transferred next week to Seattle Children’s hospital where we will work with their team to try and find a solution. The worst case scenario he has to have major surgery that will change his and our lives with a 6 month in hospital recovery. Either way I’ll be heavily relying on employees and contractors to help run the business as I focus on Zekes needs. Our ideas for his future are ever changing. A few months ago we were concentrating on getting him the skill sets to help him as an adult. We are now hoping he makes it through childhood.

What this means for the business -

I have for a long while believed Stuff in Seattle will go on with or without me. I’m incredibly proud of the business that now supports and is a part of so many people’s lives. We are at a point in the business where my labor and ability to refinish, transport, etc, is still crucial for us to maintain both enough inventory and profit to keep the doors open. Managing the business from my laptop in the hospital means the profit will go down and the costs will go up. My hope with this is to keep our doors open and the quality high with the same pricing we have had while I’m able to take care of Zeke.
