Help for uninsured Mother’s funerary costs

Hello all, my mom died on Saturday afternoon in Kentucky (I am in Ohio). I am absolutely devastated. To make matters worse,this morning I was informed by her local funeral home that her life insurance policy has lapsed in May... it was only a small one, $5000- which would have been enough to bury her and have a service, but now I am forced down the road to cremation. $1910 is what they want for that. This will be the second time I’ve had to pay for an uninsured loved one in the past 2 years. My brother killed himself in jail in January 2019 and my mom knew how hard that was for me to pay for. I am really struggling with how she could knowingly let her policy lapse when she had COPD, congestive heart failure and just general bad health. Her payment was only $29.00 a month and I had even offered to keep it paid for her, but she always assured me that she had it taken care of. I have two young children and a husband who works in a tire shop. We are far from wealthy but receive no cash benefits or food stamps. We are lower middle class. This is such a hard time for most people and I understand if no one can afford to help, but if you are able and willing to help in any way you will have my eternal gratitude.
