Hello everyone,
Two stray cats were found on the same night in critical condition.
The first was named Buboy, he is a black and white cat from a colony in South LA that I feed. I tried catching him several times when he was in an OK condition, but upon me finding him earlier this evening, he was in the worst condition ever and I feared that he would not make it to the veterinarian. He was found severely emaciated, hurled over cat kibble trying to eat it but too weak to do so. I decided to pick him up was able to scruff him and place him into a carrier, however, when I placed him inside, he collapsed. In addition to being severely dehydrated, he could not sustain his own weight. He is skin and bones, He is from a colony where people hate the cats, and since he is friendly, he was an easy target. It is believed that his left eye injury might have come from a sling shot. His eye appears to be missing, is infected with pus, and his right eye is closed shut so he cannot see much, if anything. Despite all of the trauma this cat has endured, he remains friendly. He has been rushed to an emergency vet, Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital in Sherman Oaks, CA. Buboy will need extensive care, but the prognosis is promising.
I am reaching out because out of the kindness of her own heart, one of our fellow rescuer's (Jade) has taken on his medical bill. Although registered under Cat Connection to receive a rescue discount, the bills for both cats will be extensive and financially impossible for one person to take on.
Our second cat, Baldwin, is young and in terrible condition. He is from Baldwin Park, and has severely matted fur. He is skin and bones, has had an eye infection going on so long that his eyes are shut from the infection. Our trapper thinks that he may be blind and was living on the street in this condition. If not taken into emergency care, he likely would have died on the cold concrete streets of Baldwin Park. Baldwin is eating and drinking water, receiving antibiotics and IV fluids.
No rescue or organization has stepped up to assist with funding medical for either cat who need to have an extensive stay at the vet, thus this fundraiser is to help pay for and continue treatment for these cats so that they have an opportunity to be valued. Please put your money where your heart lies. These vet bills cannot be paid without your help, please consider even donating $5.00, every donation helps no matter how big or small. Updates will be posted as treatment continues.
