Help for Turkish families in Ankara
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Jon Squires. I am starting this page on behalf of a request from my daughter, Sarah (Squires) Özdemir, who lives with her family in Ankara, Turkey. I want to share the following message from my daughter with you all.
Hey Daddy! I hope you are doing well. As you know, Southeastern Turkey was hit by two earthquakes, and as a private school, we opened our doors to students and families in need. I need your help. I don’t know what else to do. I am trying to set up a GoFundMe page, but unfortunately, they do not have service here in Turkey. There are quite a few pages for relief in Turkey from other countries that have GoFundMe, but the page I want to start is much more specific. We currently have 14 families from the earthquake zone who have been transferred to Ankara. Their children (ages Kindergarten to 11th grade) will be enrolled in our school this semester. They will not pay for anything related to school (books, uniforms, lunches, bus service, etc.) However, they currently have nothing....they were forced to leave their homes with only the clothing they wore. Two of our families were rescued from the rubble. They have nothing but their lives, which they are very grateful for. I want to set up a page for these families to help get them back on their feet, but I can't do it from Turkey. I thought this would be the easiest way to quickly get help for these families, as all of the emergency aid has been transferred to the earthquake zone. These families need it to try and rebuild their lives. I am reaching out to everyone that I can think of right now. Can you help us?
Sarah will continue to update us on the status of these families as their journey to recovery continues. Stay blessed and remember to hug your loved ones tightly.
