Iris, a 2.5 -year-old baby girl, is in critical condition at CHOC in Orange, CA. Her condition still hasn't stabilized after two weeks at the intensive care unit. She was found by her sister floating face down in their backyard pool on Monday, August 28, 2023. CPR was performed by her father Nicolas after her sister screamed for help. After complete loss of breathing and cardiac arrest, she was resuscitated at the Saddleback Hospital which was the closest and is off insurance network but had to be transferred to CHOC (also off insurance network) for more intensive intervention to save her life. Iris is suffering from severe brain damage (brain hypoxia), and severe lung damage (acute respiratory distress syndrome). She is going to need several surgeries, 24/7 monitoring, and heavy medications. Life support machines and intubations are currently helping her with choking, breathing, feeding and heart beats, some of which she might need permanently.
Iris has been a little cuddle bear, always giving hugs and kisses. She has always been by her 4-year-old brother’s side sharing every moment together. Up until the accident, she loved reading, dancing with her sister and watching Peppa Pig with her brother. Please help us raise money for Iris and her family during this tragedy. The money raised will help with medical bills for a month-long stay at minimum in the pediatric ICU, life support machines (respirator, nebulizer, oxygenator, feeding pump), specialized vehicle for transportation and occasional nursing care to help with the equipment and procedures. Nicolas and his family have an incredible story in their journey as well. From Africa, Europe and Canada to what was the American dream filled with hope. The entire family is humble and hard working. Please help us get to our goal as their lives are forever changed.
