Our names are Marcia Stracuzzi-Sandelman and Janet Stracuzzi.
Our beloved brother Tony, father of his daughter Kylie, recently suffered a traumatic brain injury due to a serious fall. Subsequently, the bleeding in his brain caused him to develops 4 strokes, leaving him critically ill, unresponsive, and paralyzed on a ventilator for over a month in the ICU at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. During this tenuous time, he was fighting for his life as he underwent 2 major neurosurgeries to evacuate the blood from his brain. He was given a very poor prognosis for any recovery. During that frightening time, all we could do is fervently pray for him because he could only have limited visitors due to the current COVID-19 virus restrictions. Tony was alone without family for much of the time in the ICU.
We all never stopped believing and praying that God would work a miracle, and God finally did. Tony slowly started to wake up about a month ago as we cried tears of joy. Tony needed a tracheostomy and a stomach feeding tube for nutrition. He eventually got off the ventilator, and because he was able to breathe on his own, and the tracheostomy was removed. He was sent to intensive rehabilitation to learn to care for himself, talk, and eat again.
The great news is that he has beaten the odds and survived with the grace of God. He finally came home on 10/24/2020 from the Brooks Rehab in Jacksonville, Florida. Unfortunately, he still has a long road of physical therapy and recovery to learn how to talk normally and walk again, and to learn how to perform basic care for himself. He is living with his father because he is completely dependent on someone to care for him.
Our youngest brother Tony is the one who is always rescuing animals and reptiles, and rehoming them as needed. He is a very loving soul and both people and animals are drawn to him. Everyone that meets him loves him.
Tony needs all the help he can get, considering the medical bills during this time will continue to increase.
Thank you for taking the time to read this; our family really appreciates all of your prayers, love and support during this time!
