Help for Toby and Donna

My Dad, Toby Gates, gave us all a major scare this week. He was admitted to the hospital on 7/25 for the second time this month with congestive heart failure. He also has kidney failure this time around. After a night in the ICU showing some improvements, he went into respiratory arrest and cardiac arrest on Tuesday, 7/26. Donna was at the hospital when it happened and had to see them perform CPR on him. He was placed on a ventilator and the outlook was grim. But, he surprised us all today (7/27) by tolerating his ventilator ween trial. So, he’s now breathing on his own. He will be in the ICU for a bit though as he’s on multiple drips to stabilize his heart.
During his last hospital stay two weeks ago, we were told his heart function was at 30%. Yesterday, we were told his heart is only functioning at 15%. The goal right now is to stabilize his heart and kidneys in order for him to have a heart catheterization in hopes of improving his heart function. They suspect he will need stents and/or pacemaker. Open heart surgery has also been discussed, but right now, he’s too weak for that.
Against his wishes, I am setting up this GoFundMe in hopes of relieving some financial stress off my Dad and Donna. Donna is taking FMLA to protect her job, but has very little sick time to cover her missed hours at work. As soon as my Dad woke up, he’s been worried about many things, including finances. I would love to raise enough funds to ease one worry and burden for he and Donna.
