Help Save Toast the Miracle Kitten
Donation protected
This is Toast cuddling with her brother Ghost. I found both of them abandoned by a feral cat in my family's barn. When I caught them I noticed Toast was much smaller and weaker than her brother and seemed liked she'd been without food for a long time. As frail as she was when I found her, there's no way she should have survived.
No matter what I fed her, she choked on it and threw it up immediately. She was rushed straight to the vet and after multiple visits was diagnosed with a congenital defect called Persistent Right Aortic Arch, which is extremely rare in kittens. Basically, the right aortic arch of her heart has wrapped itself around her esophagus, preventing her from eating anything that isn't liquid.
She's on a liquid diet now that is spoon fed to her and she's burped after eating to make sure all her food goes down, but this is only a temporary solution. Until she gets the arch corrected, she will always be at risk of developing pneumonia, and the constant restriction of her esophagus could lead to may more health problems that could end her life. Her only hope is surgery to correct the arch.
Toast is part of a bonded pair with her brother. They do everything together; sleep, eat, play...they even go to the litter-box together! I don't want them to lose each other. She's fought so hard to survive and her brother would never be the same goofy little boy without her.
All donations will go directly to her surgery and medical care. Her veterinarian says she has a great chance at a normal life if she receives the surgery soon, so I'm trying to raise as much as I can as quickly as I can. I'm selling as many of my belongings as I can, as well as crocheting cat toys and dog beds to raise money for her surgery, but I worry it won't be enough.
Toast means the whole world not only to me, but to her brother as well. She's the strongest, sweetest little kitten I've ever met and I would be eternally grateful to anyone who could help me give her a future. I love her so much, and I can't stand to see her die because of something as inconsequential as money.
Anything at all helps. Every penny is one penny closer to saving her. To anyone who might donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And to anyone who can't donate but has her in your thoughts, thank you as well. Hopefully we can get her surgery and she can live the life I know she deserves.
